Why An Elm Tree?
Before the American Revolutionary, the Liberty Tree (an elm) in Boston was not just a physical landmark but a vibrant hub for the exchange of ideas that fueled the desire for independent freedom. Under its branches, colonists gathered to discuss, debate, and disseminate concepts like liberty, representation, and resistance against British taxation without consent. The tree symbolized freedom of speech and assembly, serving as a catalyst for the fervor for change that would eventually lead to the birth of a new nation. Through these gatherings, ideas were not only shared but also refined, leading to greater unity and strategic actions against British rule.
Today we may not have a Liberty Tree, but we still have a need for American Citizens to get together and exchange ideas.
